Survival baskets for mananjary

Several districts of Madagascar were severely damaged by a huge flood, which also tragically resulted in large human casualties. The passage of a tropical disturbance and the hurricane season at the beginning of the year were the main causes of the excessive rains. As of January 22, 2022, the flood will have left 6,800 homes underwater, 30,000 people displaced, and 34 people dead, according to the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Due to the landlocked nature of some settlements, it is extremely difficult for many families to make it through each day. Furthermore, the approach of tropical cyclone Batsirai may fuel worries of a big catastrophe. According to the World Food Program, 600,000 people, including 150, could be directly impacted.

On 07/28 our team left to Mananjary to provide aid and relief to families who’ve been affected by this year’s cyclones.

  • 5kg of rice

  • 1L sealed bottle of oil

  • 1 packet of salt

  • 1 bar of soap

  • Macaroni

  • 1 can of condensed milk 200g

10$ can provide 1 Survival Basket for a family of 1-5.

In summary, we were proud to be able to help 20 families with our first mission, but we need your help for us to reach more.

To help the Malagasy population affected by this disaster, we make an appeal for the kindness and solidarity of the whole Malagasy diaspora as well as of everyone else who is aware of the present climatic conditions impacting Madagascar. We anticipate having a large number of people participate in the "Survival basket" operation, which will allow the victims to get both clothing and essential necessities.
